Which STATES Are SAFE…in the Next US Civil War / Global Famine? | Is GEORGIA a Goshen?
Pastor Steve Cioccolanti on preparedness, community, and Kingdom wisdom in the End Times
During a recent ministry trip through Georgia, Pastor Steve Cioccolanti encountered a powerful real-world example of what a modern-day Goshen could look like.
Georgia is known for much more than peaches. It is home to some of America’s most influential companies, including Coca-Cola, Chick-fil-A, Delta, and Home Depot. Yet beyond its economic strength, Pastor Steve saw something even more significant: a living picture of biblical preparedness.
While ministering in northern Georgia, Pastor Steve visited James, a Discover Church Online member and minister, whose community is nestled deep in the Appalachian Mountains. There, the conversation turned to a question many believers are asking today:
What is Goshen, and how should Christians prepare for the future?
Goshen Is More Than a Place
Many believers associate Goshen with physical safety.
In Scripture, Goshen was the place where God protected His people during the ten plagues in Egypt. For many Christians today, the question becomes: Where is my Goshen?
Pastor Steve believes the answer is deeper than geography.
“The whole idea of a Goshen is not to be isolationist but to have a community.”
This reframes the entire discussion.
Preparedness is often imagined as escape—moving somewhere remote, storing supplies, and surviving independently. But biblical Goshen was never about isolation.
It was about God’s people dwelling together under His protection.
A true Goshen is more than land, property, or scenery.
It is a community of believers who can work together, support one another, and steward resources wisely.
The Key Is Community
James explained that one of the most important factors in finding a Goshen is not land—but people.
“The first key in this season is not actually just the place—it’s the community.”
That means looking for people who possess both practical skills and Kingdom-minded values.
A healthy Goshen includes people who know how to:
Grow food
Access clean water
Hunt or fish
Generate backup power
Protect families
Build resilient systems
In the Georgia community Pastor Steve visited, many people already live with this mindset. Preparedness is built into daily life.
They have clean well water, backup power systems, fuel reserves, and essential equipment for emergencies.
But James emphasized something deeper:
“The people make your Goshen for you.”
Without unity, even the safest location can fail.
You Will Not Make It Alone
Modern culture often glorifies independence.
Scripture emphasizes interdependence.
Pastor Steve warned that isolation becomes dangerous in times of crisis.
History shows how quickly social order can deteriorate when supply chains fail. Food shortages, power outages, and scarcity expose how fragile modern civilization can be.
Pastor Steve put it bluntly:
“You’re not going to make it alone.”
Large cities are particularly vulnerable.
Cities produce very little themselves. Food, medicine, water, and fuel all depend on continuous delivery. Once those systems fail, stability can disappear rapidly.
This is why community matters.
Protection grows stronger when people work together.
Provision becomes sustainable when resources are shared.
The Church Already Has the Blueprint
One of Pastor Steve’s strongest observations was that the Church should already understand the principle of Goshen.
Church is community.
Church is people joined by faith, shared values, leadership, and purpose.
Pastor Steve explained:
“Every church really has the advantage of being ahead of the game… because it is a natural Goshen.”
This places a responsibility on church leaders.
Teaching prophecy alone is not enough.
If pastors believe in the End Times, they must also help prepare their people spiritually, relationally, and practically.
“If you’re going to preach on the end times, you certainly must believe it—and prepare for it.”
Preparation is not fear.
Preparation is stewardship.
Moving From Fear to Faith
Discussions about preparation can easily trigger fear.
Pastor Steve cautions against panic.
God calls His people to wisdom.
The goal of Goshen is not simply survival.
“The goal is not really just to survive. It’s to win. It’s to overcome.”
That is the mindset believers need.
God is preparing a people who remain strong, united, and fruitful even in difficult times.
This requires a shift:
from fear to faith-filled action.
Pastor Steve summarized it this way:
“Move from fear to faith-filled action. Prepare wisely and thrive.”
Faith does not deny warning signs.
Faith responds with wisdom, prayer, and obedience.
What Makes a Good Goshen?
Not every place that appears safe truly is.
Pastor Steve recommends evaluating potential places of safety using practical criteria.
Important questions include:
Is there abundant clean water?
Is food accessible or growable?
Is energy reliable?
Is the area safe from major natural disasters?
Is the cost of living sustainable?
Is there strong Christian community nearby?
Discernment matters.
Believers should pray, research, and seek wise counsel.
Stay Close to God’s People
Perhaps Pastor Steve’s most important warning concerns spiritual isolation.
“Don’t let the devil steal you away from church, good leadership, and the Word of God at this time.”
One of the enemy’s most effective strategies is division.
He isolates believers from church, leadership, and community.
Biblical safety is often found in connection.
Pastor Steve makes this clear:
“Goshen is not a place where you go away from your pastor… it’s actually going closer to your pastor and going closer to believers who believe in prophecy.”
This is one of the core purposes of Discover Church Online: to build a global community of believers who understand the times and prepare wisely.
The Ultimate Safety Is Found in Christ
Physical preparation has limits.
Land, supplies, and strategy can help—but they cannot replace spiritual security.
True safety is found in Jesus Christ.
Pastor Steve reminds believers that the ultimate Goshen is not merely a physical place.
It is belonging to the family of God.
As he explains:
“We can’t save ourselves.”
Salvation begins when people recognize their need for rescue.
Pastor Steve offers a powerful illustration:
“If I’m in a sinking Titanic ship, I’m not going to swim all the way across the ocean. I need someone to rescue me.”
That rescuer is Jesus.
In uncertain times, believers can stand firm knowing their greatest security is found in Him.
Prepare wisely. Stay connected. Walk in faith.
And above all, stay close to Jesus.
